Muebles y Diseños designed, built and installed a custom fitted kitchen in an apartment in Zona Rosa, San Salvador. The kitchen has minimalist lines, textured oak finishes, a black granite countertop and LED lighting integrated into the cabinetry itself. It was built to the exact dimensions of the space — the only way to use an apartment well when no wall is a standard size.

What does a custom fitted kitchen include?
It includes base and wall cabinets, the countertop, the cutouts for appliances, integrated lighting and hardware, all designed as a single unit. The difference from a store-bought modular kitchen is not the finish but the fit: a custom kitchen is built to the apartment’s real dimensions, without the filler strips and dead gaps that appear when fixed-size modules are forced into a space that does not match them. Here the finish is textured oak with a black granite countertop.
Why black granite for the countertop?
Granite is natural stone, resists direct heat and cutting, and in a kitchen used every day that matters more than how it looks in the first month. Black also balances a textured oak front visually: the wood brings grain and relief, and a light countertop competing with that texture oversaturates the composition. It is as much a compositional decision as a material one.
How is LED lighting integrated into a kitchen?
It is built into the cabinetry, not stuck on after installation. That means allowing in the workshop for the profile channels, the cable routing and the driver location, accessible for maintenance but out of sight. The strip under the wall cabinets does the real work: it lights the countertop without the cook’s own body casting a shadow over what they are cutting — exactly what happens when a kitchen is lit only from a ceiling fixture.
Can a kitchen be ordered from abroad?
Yes, and it is common among Salvadorans living abroad who are renovating a property in El Salvador. The project is coordinated remotely: technical measurement is done on site with whoever the client designates, the design proposal and quote are sent by email or WhatsApp, photo updates are shared during manufacturing, and installation is scheduled for the agreed date.
Frequently asked questions about this type of project
How much does a custom kitchen cost in El Salvador?
There is no fixed price: cost depends on the linear meters of cabinetry, the door material, the chosen countertop and the hardware. Muebles y Diseños sends a free personalized quote after taking technical measurements of the space, and responds to requests within 24 hours.
Which materials work best for a kitchen in El Salvador’s climate?
For kitchens we work with melamine, lacquered MDF and treated woods such as pine, depending on use and budget. In El Salvador’s climate what matters most is edge sealing and moisture treatment rather than the timber itself: a poorly sealed edge swells even on a good-quality board.
Does Muebles y Diseños install the kitchen or only build it?
It builds and installs with its own team, including final on-site adjustments. The same team that builds it installs it, and the project includes a workmanship warranty.
